How to Improve Curb Appeal Before Selling Your Home
Before a buyer walks through the door, they've already looked at the driveway, the front wall, the trim, and the windows. Exterior work tends to change first impressions more per dollar than interior updates.
Start with cleaning
Pressure washing the driveway, walkway, and porch, and soft washing the front elevation, is usually the most visible change available. A gray, stained driveway makes a well-kept house look neglected.
Then the details buyers read as 'maintained'
- Freshly painted front door and trim
- Clean windows, inside and out, including tracks
- Repaired or replaced damaged siding and trim boards
- Crisp caulk lines around windows and doors
- Consistent, current exterior color
Full exterior repaint
If the paint is chalking or noticeably faded on the street-facing elevation, a repaint is worth considering. If it's sound, cleaning plus targeted touch-ups often gets most of the benefit.
